Tony Hillary, Norjon’s new Head of Quality, joins the South Coast precision engineering firm with 40 years of experience in precision engineering.

Tony’s strong background in achieving the highest levels of quality assurance will help propel the company to new heights, with the aim to achieve certification to AS9100 in 2024, and latterly IATF 16949.

A wealth of quality experience

Tony started his career as an apprentice at a specialist aerospace engineering company, where he met Norjon’s Paul Jerrard, Steve Goff, Phil Pipe and Gary Sheehan.

“I’ve known some of the Norjon guys for a long time, so it’s great to come and work with them here.”

He worked his way up to Deputy Quality Manager and went on to work in a wide variety of engineering companies, covering aerospace, automotive, medical, electronics and more.

Over his 40 year career, Tony has implemented the highest levels of quality standards at many companies, including ISO 9001, AS9100 and IATF 16949:2016.

Why Norjon?

Tony is excited to join the Hampshire engineering company, which he has followed with interest for many years.

“I’ve lived in Fareham all my life and been aware of Norjon as this enduring firm that has not only survived a long time but thrived – that’s hard to do in engineering!”

“They’re proper engineers here and they understand the value of investing in the people and the right kit.”

Eyes on the horizon

Tony is confident that Norjon already has what it takes to succeed in the demanding aerospace sector.
“I know I can deliver what the company needs me to, to get us to the next level.

For aerospace work, your systems need to be spot on; your controls need to be exacting and understood by your staff and you have to have absolutely outstanding inspection processes.

The infrastructure here is already really good, we just need to use it to its full potential. We’ve got the right machines, people and equipment to get where we need to go and the desire and drive is there.

I’m excited to get started.”

Explaining quality standards

IATF 16949:2016

IATF 16949:2016 is the international standard for automotive quality management systems. It focuses on improved risk management, supply chain management and quality management processes for the automotive industry.

AS9100 is a quality management system developed for the aerospace industry. It outlines the standards that need to be met to produce parts for the aerospace industry to ensure safety, reliability and the highest levels of quality.
